Why it works

STEM without a purpose doesn't stick.

A gear ratio is a fraction on a worksheet until changing it wins or loses the next heat. Then it is the most interesting thing in the room.

They touch the physics

Every idea is tested on a track and recorded as a number. Predict, run, measure, explain — that is the whole method, repeated ten times.

Competition supplies the reason

The curriculum supplies the means to win. Neither works alone, which is why this holds attention where a worksheet does not.

Nobody sits on the bench

Driver, mechanic, data analyst, media — roles rotate every session, so every temperament finds a way to be good at something.

The curriculum

Four subjects, ten sessions, one machine.

Track I is where every student starts. The physics is real, the maths is real, and the results are written down in the student's own handwriting.

  • Gearing & ratios — pinion to spur, torque against top speed, mechanical advantage they can feel in their hands.
  • Centre of mass & stability — ride height, weight transfer, and the physics of not flipping on the corner.
  • Speed & kinematics — distance over time, acceleration, telemetry measured against their own prediction.
  • Projectile motion — launch angle, velocity and trajectory, used to call the landing point before the jump.

Four minutes. Then you'll know.

Answer six quick questions, hand the phone to your child, and let them play three short challenges. You get back a Driver Card showing what we saw, the division that fits, and exactly what Track I covers at their age. It costs nothing and there is no losing screen.

Four divisions across ages 4 to 25. A seven-year-old and a sixteen-year-old work on the same machine, on the same day — and both are stretched.

How it runs

Ten sessions. Ten students. Everything supplied.

Two a week over five weeks, or one a week over ten — whichever fits your school's activity calendar.

One small group per age bracket, run as two teams of five. Small enough that nobody hides.

Full fleet supplied

Machines, tools, instruments and safety gear are all provided. You bring nothing but your child.

Master Challenge

A final event across all four subjects, plus a student-made video reel their whole school can watch.

What they leave with

A skill, not an activity.

By the end of Track I a student can change a gear ratio, diagnose a fault, set a car up for the surface they are racing on — and explain why each change did what it did.

They earn their way up a wristband ladder — RED → YELLOW → GREEN → CHECKERED — and the GREEN licence makes them eligible for the GRS Checkered Cup, our interscholastic racing league.

Where your fee goes

Your child's place also opens one for a student who cannot pay.

A defined share of every course fee goes into the GRS Access Fund. It does two things, and we publish the numbers every season so you can check them.

Free places in the programme Students from public-sector and scholarship programmes join GRS at no cost — competing under the same rules, on the same machines, for the same trophies. Competitors, not guests.
Paid technical work Higher-education students are paid to officiate and coach at GRS events. Real technical work that helps them meet the cost of their own studies — for many, the first time they are paid for it.

GRS collaborates with ITSE — Instituto Técnico Superior Especializado, whose students train in software, data science and industrial technology on a model that is 60% academic and 40% practical, and with Programa ¡Supérate!, which since 2004 has supported more than 7,000 high-performing public-school students across Central America in English, programming and values. Access places and paid roles are allocated against published criteria, never by private arrangement.

The questions we get most.

Does my child need any experience?

None at all. Most students have never held a transmitter. Session one starts with safety and control, and the first bracket is deliberately built so that a four-year-old can succeed at it.

Is it safe?

Yes. Machines run on limited throttle profiles for younger brackets, safety glasses are worn for all assembly and repair work, batteries are charged only at a supervised station, and an adult is within arm's reach of every transmitter in the youngest division.

Isn't this just more screen time?

The opposite. Sessions are entirely hands-on with real tools and real machines. The only screen involved is the one showing the telemetry from their own run.

What if my child isn't competitive?

Three disciplines are scored separately — driving, mechanics and innovation — so the student who is not the fastest driver can still be the best in the room at something. In the youngest division nothing is ranked at all.

Do we need to buy a machine?

No. GRS supplies an identical fleet to every student. That is deliberate: it removes any advantage that could be bought, so results reflect the racer and not the household budget.

What happens after Track I?

Students earn a GREEN Racing Licence and become eligible for the GRS Checkered Cup — our interscholastic league — and can continue into Tracks II, III and IV: assembly and maintenance, competitive tuning, and pre-engineering and design.
